Market sentiment (for the month ahead)
Market participants mostly anticipate steady to firmer market conditions throughout September and October, with prices supported by the returning demand, mainly from Europe and Asia.
With RCN prices in East Africa expected to open at relatively high levels, this will provide additional support to the kernel market.
US demand brings an element of uncertainty to the outlook.
→ Ample availability
Global raw cashew nut (RCN) supply is adequate following a strong harvest in West Africa and optimistic prospects for East African production
However, RCN prices have not decreased significantly in the past few months, leading to likely high initial pricing from East Africa
↑ Robust global demand
All key markets apart from the US, due to the tariff-related uncertainty, show solid demand growth
↑ A pick-up in market activity
A seasonal uptick in market activity is expected after buyers in Europe and the US return from their summer vacations. The buying focus is now moving towards the first quarter and possibly the second quarter of 2026.
↓ Concerns over US forward demand
Concerns over US forward demand due to the 20% import tariff rate persist. Some market sources speculate that the US economic uncertainty could hamper consumer spending across the whole nut and dried fruit category
